What is the effect of mold flow analysis on the mold? Feb 22, 2019
1. You can know if the part is full. The analysis can also provide other useful information such as the required injection pressure and clamping pressure.
2. You can know if the part has a filling problem. Many filling problems, such as short shots, bubbles and unbalanced filling, can be determined by careful analysis of the filling curve. Mold flow analysis allows you to change the position of the gate, the speed of the injection, and other processing conditions to see if these problems can be improved or corrected.
3. The deformation of the part can be predicted. Deformation analysis is used to predict the absolute value of deformation, which requires great care. The prediction of deformation can be used to compare gate location, wall thickness variation or design changes.
4. The problematic mold prototype can be inspected and corrected. The best way to detect problems in the mold is to use the mold prototype to do a 'short shot'. Mold flow analysis can determine which changes will be effective and faster and cost less to repair.
5. The efficiency of the cooling circuit can be known. Adding cooling analysis to the deformation analysis can increase accuracy. Since the cooling water circuit is in the mold, it is difficult to modify once it is completed, so this type of analysis is very useful before opening the mold.
6. Repair the weld line problem. Mold flow analysis predicts where the weld line is occurring and can help move it to places where problems are less likely to occur. It also provides clues to the quality of the weld line, such as the temperature at which the melt flow front meets and the pressure required to fill the weld line. However, the mold flow analysis does not predict the strength of the weld line and its visibility.
