Compared with metal gears, plastic gears have the advantages of good forming technology, high efficiency, low cost, stable transmission, high shock absorption noise, light weight, wear resistance and self-lubrication. They have gradually become good substitutes for metal materials, such as plasticization trend in many fields of metal materials.
However, the disadvantages of plastic gear are obvious. Its strength is low, thermal conductivity is poor, thermal deformation is large, and it is easy impacted by temperature, humidity and loading mode. Therefore, plastic gears which are suitable for light load drive are needed.
