Injection mold cooling line leakage is a common occurrence.
There are many reasons, mainly from the following aspects:
1. Most occurs at the joint of the mold cooling lines. If leakage is found, the sealing belt should be wound on the thread of the pipe connector, and then tightened.
2. Due to long-term molding conditions, the o-ring in the mold will be damaged, and the O-shaped o-ring is easy to harden and crack, resulting in water leakage. Some o-ring installation will also cause sealing failure. Generally, the installation position and sealing performance of the sealing ring should be checked regularly.
3. The wall of the cooling lines hole is damaged. This often happens when trying outnew molds, where the designed wall thickness is sufficient, but the hole wall is broken due to machining error or post-machining. In most cases, leaky water holes cannot be reused.
4. Maintenance of cooling line hole. It is easy to scale in the cooling line hole, which hinders heat transfer. In serious cases, the waterway is blocked and needs regular maintenance. For straight water holes, a steel bar 0.5mm smaller in diameter than the cooling line hole can be inserted and struck with a hammer to remove scale and rust. For the cooling lines embedded in the mold, the mold should be decomposed and rust removed.
Leakage test should be carried out after maintenance, using a hand pressure pump to fill the water hole, keep it for 5 minutes under 2MPa pressure, and judge whether the water hole is leaking by observing whether the water pressure is reduced. Leakage can be used rubber, cork and other elastic materials to mechanically tighten the method of plugging, but also try room temperature solidified silica gel as plugging material.
5. Regular maintenance and utilization of heating pipe and decompression pump. The heating tube is an effective heat transfer element, which is very effective for cooling the core with fine and deep structure. In the parts where the cooling line is easy to pass, the one-way heating pipe can reduce water leakage. In addition, the use of reduced pressure pump suction cooling line, is also to prevent the leakage of cooling line method.
