Austrian Oil and Gas Group and Borealis collaborate on plastic recycling Jun 20, 2019
Houston, June 20 Report The Austrian Oil and Gas Group (OMV) and Borealis are exploring ways to chemically recycle plastic waste into plastics at the Schwechat refinery and petrochemical plant in Austria.

The collaboration will involve a pilot plant operated by OMV's 194,000-barrel/day refinery, which has a comprehensive petrochemical plant that supplies raw materials for Borellis polyolefin production operations.

The OMV pilot project produces up to 100 kg/hr of synthetic crude oil from waste plastics for reuse by refineries. According to OMV, this product can be used as a fuel or plastic raw material.

The company plans to add another capacity before expanding the pilot plant to industrial scale.
